Taking the stage sans shoes

Goldfrapp sounds like a villain from an Austin Powers flick (yeah, baby!), but it's the name of an electronic music duo from England.

Alison Goldfrapp is the lead singer (Will Gregory is the other member), and she's performing barefoot in this clip from 2008. In addition to her being BF, I also like the court jester outfit she wears here.

Halloween Kills (just not now)

A new teaser trailer dropped for Halloween Kills, along with the news that the film's opening has been bumped to next year.

While I'm not happy to see this (I loved the 2018 Halloween film), given the circumstances, it's completely understandable. I'm starting to think that maybe the movie studios/theaters should just write off 2020 and push everything back to next year, just to be on the safe side. Hopefully the situation will have improved when Halloween Kills releases in October 2021.

Even Sharks Are Not Safe!

Everybody and their mother has probably seen this by now. But just in case you haven't, here's a video of a pretty sizable fish being scooped up by an even more sizable bird of prey. Where was this bird when Chief Brody needed it on Amity Island?

Hope you're having a great Fourth of July. And if you don't celebrate the Fourth, then I hope you're enjoying a great summer weekend.

Tabook

Tabook is a very well done cartoon about a young woman who discovers her love of bondage in a bookstore, thanks to finding a book featuring bondage pictures. But she has to try and buy the book while being watched by disapproving customers. It's very funny, with a nice message at the end.

The Ultimate Lego Batcave

A creative genius made the Batcave from Lego pieces. It stands six feet tell, has a rotating parking platform that displays the various Batmobilbes, and has a full-sized Batwing on display right behind the massive Batcomputer. Oh, and there's a completed Wayne Manor seated on top of all of this. This is just very cool; a superb job to all involved.

I love this stuff

I love creative stuff like this. I'd spend hours just painting and setting these pieces up, never mind playing RPG with them. Having something set up like this in my home would actually help me to plot out Ryta the Jungle Girl books, because these little scenes look like some of the places she's visited (namely Storm-Haven & Kingsland).

Barefoot Chiropractor

Usually in these chiropractic videos the patient goes barefoot. But in this one the chiropractor is barefoot, along with her female patient. In addition to doing some good chiropractic work, she's also pretty funny, as well. Getting some laughs while getting your spine adjusted, all in one place. Perfect.

I am (Bat)Woman & James Gunn

I thought it was a good idea to cast Ruby Rose was cast as Batwoman. Now that I see her in the Batsuit, it looks like her casting was a really great idea. I'm looking forward to seeing her in this year's DC TV Crossover. You can read more about it right here.

And, from Guardians of the Galaxy to...Suicide Squad?! Yep, James Gunn, the writer/director of the first two GOTG films, is in talks to switch over to DC to write/direct the Suicide Squad sequel. I hope he makes this, because with a locked and loaded Gunn in charge Suicide Squad 2 will be a lot of fun. You can read more about that right here.

Mad Max meets Hot Wheels

I came across this on the tube of U. This guy takes Hot Wheels cars and converts them to the post apocalyptic style of the Mad Max films. It's a pretty cool idea; I'm surprised nobody's done this until now.

I'm wondering now if anybody has built a small scale version of the tanker from Mad Max: Fury Road. Or even the tanker used at the end of The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2). I saw pictures of the Fury Road tanker made out of Legos.

But I really like this Hot Wheels Mad Max conversion. In the words of the immortal Immortan Joe: It's all shiny and chrome!

Take a break

It's the weekend. Kick back and take a break. These two are doing just that.

Lego my droids

Someone re-created the battle of Geonosis, from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, in Lego form. Not only did they recreate the actual battle, with Droids verses Clone troopers, but they also built a Droid factory inside of a mountain--again, all from Lego sets.

And as if all of this wasn't enough, the conveyor belts in the Droid factory all work (well, except for one that broke down). Some great attention to detail here by some creative minds.

My favorite moment from Wonder Woman

My favorite moment in Wonder Woman, the super fantastic movie starring Gail Godot as WW, comes at just around one hour and eighteen minutes into the film. It's deep into her battle with the soldiers when Wonder Woman stops to give one of them The Look.

It's this great, 'oh-no-you-don't' look that Godot pulls off very nicely, just before she attacks another soldier. I just got the Blu-Ray of Wonder Woman today, and one of the first things I did was to make a screen-grab of The Look, which you can see above. This is going to make a nice wallpaper for my computer.

It's great to finally add this flick to my superhero film collection. Welcome home, Diana.

GOT lightsabers?

In addition to having a spectacular battle that involved a dragon, the fourth episode of season seven of Game of Thrones also had a great sword fight between Arya and Brienne. Somebody took this sword fight and armed Arya and Brienne with lightsabers from Star Wars, and it's really very frigging cool.

Even without the lightsabers, this season of GOT has been on point with every episode so far. I'm enjoying it immensely.

Taking on a classic pop song

I am still deep into the second draft of the cult thriller, and it's going very well. It looks like I may have this ready for publication by late July/early August, which will be just in time for Halloween. Releasing it a couple of months before the holiday might be good for people who want something to help them get in the Halloween mood early.

In the mean time, I came across this really nice version of "Take On Me" that's performed in a more classic take. I love how fluidly the song still comes through.

Big Badda Boom

Went back to work on the occult thriller that I'm writing, and it's going well. I found this video compilation of building implosions during a break. I posted one of these about a year ago, and I'm not sure if this is the same one (building implosions all look alike).

This video's been uploaded on July 5, just yesterday, but it could be a re-upload. But even if it is a re-upload...whatever, you know? I never get tired of seeing this stuff anyway.

Real life Wolverine claws

Since finishing the first draft of the new novel last week I've decided to take the long holiday weekend off before getting started on the second draft on Wednesday. That means I've been watching a lot of YouTube lately, which isn't really a bad thing if you find interesting stuff.

Like this gentleman with the real life Wolverine claws. What makes his claws different from any good Wolverine cosplayer? His claws actually spring out and retract, just like Hugh Jackman's character in every X-men movie over the (almost) last twenty years. When this dude wears a jacket, hiding the mechanism, it looks even better.
