At Midnight I Shall Take Your Soul (Meia-Noite Levarei Sua Alma) is reportedly the very first horror movie that was made in Brazil, way back in 1964.
Valeria Vasquez stars as the victim of an insidious villain who captures her with chloroform in a lengthy scene.
The villain is an undertaker known as Coffin Joe, and he's played by the film's writer/director, José Mojica Marins.
When Valeria wakes up, she finds that's she's lying on a bed, bound and gagged, and Coffin Joe has placed a tarantula on her bound body.
Valeria's gag is an interesting one. Her mouth is very well packed.
Unfortunately for Valeria, the spider bite is fatal. I guess that's why they call him Coffin Joe.
At least Valeria is barefoot throughout this whole scene.
