This month marks the 40th anniversary of Airwolf, which made its debut in January 22, 1984.
Airwolf was basically a rip-off of the movie Blue Thunder, about a super-powered helicopter. But Airwolf was far better than the Blue Thunder TV series, which got canned after only one season.
In the very first pilot episode of Airwolf, Gabrielle (Belinda Bauer) goes undercover into the bad guy's lair--with said bad guy having invented the Aiwolf chopper.
However, her cover is blown and Gabrielle is then tied by the villain to a jeep under the blistering desert sun.
Her ankles are tied, but--alas--she's wearing shoes.
Unfortunately, Gabrielle doesn't survive her ordeal. But her death gives the heroes the excuse they need to blow the shit out of the villain, who won't be making anymore fancy helicopters, leaving Airwolf as the only one of its kind.
Interestingly enough, when the boys in Airwolf rescue her (too late), Gabrielle is seen barefoot. Belinda Bauer would retire from acting in the mid 1990s. According to Wikipedia, she lives in LA and works as a spiritual psychologist.
