Disney+ dropped all five episodes of its latest Marvel series Echo all at once, instead of one ep per week, and this was seen as a sign that they didn't have faith in the series. Once I saw it, I realized why.
It's not very good.
I was looking forward to another gritty street-level superhero show, like the brilliant Daredevil series that was done for Netflix. But the jumbled and confused Echo series wound up giving her superpowers that were so vaguely defined, along with an uninspired superhero costume, that the whole superhero element felt like it was tacked on as an afterthought. And the fight scenes are all so badly staged they look like dance numbers.
However, there is a bondage scene with Echo and the actress who plays her cousin in the third episode. No BF bondage, but both women are tied hand and foot. Overall, Echo isn't great, with some lazy writing and pretty shabby directing--which is a shame, because I was looking forward to seeing more of Echo after first seeing her in Hawkeye. DC is doing a complete overhaul of its movies and TV shows. Maybe Marvel/Disney should consider doing the same.
