Wonder Woman

As many of you know, a new Wonder Woman movie was released recently. Wonder Woman 1984 "opened" on HBO Max on Christmas Day (it was also in theaters).

And I had made a point of holding off on my annual "best of" movie list until I saw this. I was so excited to see it, and I figured that it *WILL* simply be great (in all fairness, I thought the first Wonder Woman film was fantastic, and assumed the second one would be just as good).

But while I really enjoyed watching a first-run feature in the comfort of my home, WW84 turned out to be a let down for me.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but the movie--while it had some great moments--was overall a big 'meh' for me.

WW84 wasn't a complete train wreck, but it lacked the mythic quality of the first movie, and to this end, I thought Cheetah--Wonder Woman's long-time arch enemy--should have been in the film a lot more than she was. In fact, Cheetah really should have been the dominant villain of WW84.

But I still love the character, and am glad to hear that a third WW film has been ordered. Gail Godot is very good in the lead role. The vidcaps in this post are actually from the BF battle scene in the 2009 Wonder Woman animated film (with Keri Russell doing the voice of WW). This animated Wonder Woman film is very good; you should check it out, if you haven't already done so.
