Night Gallery

The TV series Night Gallery, which aired in the 1970s, was known as Rod Serling's "second show" after the more famous Twilight Zone. Like TZ, NG was an anthology series, telling a new tale of the amazing, scary, or fantastic with every episode.

One of the episodes of NG that I rmember most fondly as a kid was The Doll of Death, starring Susan Strasberg as a woman who lives in the West Indies. She's about to get married to a wealthy plantation owner, but ditches him at the last minute for her lover.

Problems arise when the ditched plantation owner switches to voodoo to get revenge. Don't you hate it when that happens?

Strasberg, who was the daughter of actor Lee Strasberg, goes barefoot throughout the entire episode.

And the episode was directed by John Badham, who would go on to direct Wargames and Blue Thunder in the 1980s.

The Doll of Death aired during the third season of Night Gallery.

Night Gallery is still available in various places, I was lucky enough to get it on DVD.
