Kate & Malignant

I caught up on two movies that came out on Friday. First was Kate, on Netflix, starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead (who I love). The plot is the same as the classic 1949 D.O.A., with Edmond O'Brien (which was remade in the '80s with Dennis Quaid), where he's been fatally poisoned and only has a short time to find out who killed him before he dies.

Winstead plays Kate, a professional assassin who gets fatally posioned with radiation. Having only hours to live, she goes off on a Terminator-like killing spree across urban Japan, determined to find who killed her. Kate, the movie, is really very good, with some intense action scenes and even some very well-placed humor.

The bondage scene in Kate involves Miku Patricia Martineau, as Ani (on the right in the picture above). She gets her wrists taped together in front of her around the back of a toilet by Kate. Fully dressed, and clad in shoes, Miku is gagged with a rag and her feet are not tied. She frees herself.

Malignant (available on HBO-Max through Oct 10) is a batshit crazy film that's directed by James Wan, who's been given free reign to make whatever movie he wanted by Warner Brothers, since he gave them the billion dollar-grossing Aquaman. And that's a good thing, because Malignant is a wonderfully wacky flick that fans of Giallo films will enjoy. I loved it.

The bondage scene in Malignant involes Jean Louisa Kelly. If I told you who she plays, it might give away some things. Just know that Kelly's bondage scene deals with her being tied in a spread-eagle position up against a wall. She's gagged, and left trussed up like this for the better part of the film's running time. She's fully dressed, and clad in shoes, however. She eventually works herself free.
