Aeon Flux

Aeon Flux was a science fiction animated series that aired on MTV (right around when they stopped aired music videos--which is what they were originally named after, but whatever).

In the episode Chronophasia, Aeon finds herself on an adventure deep in the jungles, only to get captured by Trevor Goodchild, her arch enemy/lover.

Barefoot, and clad in a special suit, she's seated bound in a chair inside of a tent. All while Goodchild is passive-aggressively gloating over her, Aeon is working on freeing her hands.

But what's weird about this scene is the fact that, in some shots, Aeon's feet are clearly not tied.

And yet once she frees her hands, Aeon actually has to bend over to untie her ankles, which are now bound together.

Still, just the fact that she was barefoot in this scene at all is pretty nice. This animated series had a strange, dream-like quality to it, where each of the episodes were completely self-contained--but they still told this overall story. It's worth seeking out not only for this scene, but for its general weirdness factor.
