I admit to never being a huge fan of The Wizard Of Oz. But I loved the sequel, Return To Oz, because it dared to be darker and downright dystopian in its depiction of the wonderful land of Oz.
Unfortunately, RTO was also a big bomb at the box office when it was released back in 1985.
But I was glad to see that Return To Oz gained some devoted fans in the thirty five years since its release. I loved this film from the first moment that I saw it.
It's presently playing on Disney+ (and also on digital and physical media). If you have Disney+, then give Return To Oz a whirl, for this dark journey is still worth taking even now.
