Showdown in Little Tokyo

Showdown in Little Tokyo is an action film that was released in 1991. Tia Carrere gets tied to a gas pump near the end of the film.

She gets rescued by no less than Dolph Lundgren. Watch where you're aiming that thing, Dolph!

I'm tempted to say that she's barefoot. She looks barefoot in a few of the shots, but she's wearing shoes when running away with Dolph--however, the listing for this film on Brian's Page says she's barefoot. So let's say that she is BF.

But what's up with the weird bandana on Dolph?

Hey, again, watch where you're shooting, bub! Tina looked like she was right in the line of fire, there.

With the rough way Dolph is treating her, here, Tina might have been better off with her kidnappers.

Superman 2025 review

With Superman 2025 premiering on HBO-Max today, I figured what better time than now for a review? In short, I really enjoyed this version of Superman a great deal. I like how the new film hits the ground running, by not bothering with retelling the origin story. David Corenswet is a good choice as Superman, with Nicolas Holt being absolutely fantastic as Lex Luthor (Hoult's my new favorite version of the character, aside from Gene Hackman, who was so good in the '78 version).

And James Gunn adding the Justice Gang was an inspired idea. I really liked how the DC Comics universe--with all its heroes and villains--is fully formed around this Superman, who still manages to stand out among them. The storyline is gripping and fast-paced, with Superman being given a lot of challenges to overcome, and watching him do so is all part of the fun. A vastly entertaining movie that's recommended.

Vaachan

Vaachan Dile Tu Mala is an Indian soap opera, and that's about as much as I know about it. I discovered this clip a few years back, and this scene is the only thing I've seen from it.

But, I do know that--in most Indian productions--the damsel is usually barefoot when she's tied up.

And this production is no exception.

Legends of Tomorrow

From the third season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, in the episode called "I, Ava," we have series regular Maisie Richardson-Sellers tied to a chair by the good guys.

She's bound hand and foot (and gagged) to a chair on wheels while barefoot and clad in surgical scrubs. Which makes it a very nice scene for me.

Technically, this isn't "our" Ava, but a clone of her. And since this clone doesn't know the Legends from her own elbow, she needs to be kept from making trouble for them. Hence why she's tied up like this.

It's a very brief scene, but it's also very nice. I love it.

Mesa of Lost Women

Mesa of Lost Women is one of those "atomic horror" B-Movies from the 1950s--from 1953, to be exact. It starred Tandra Quinn as the Tarantula Girl (although she's known as Tarantula Girl, she never shows any signs of being an actual tarantula).

About halfway through the film, the Tarantula Girl gives this sultry dance in a local dive bar. She's barefoot throughout.

The film was directed by Herbert Tevos and Ron Ormond.

And despite having two directors (or maybe because of them), Mesa of Lost Women is pretty bad.

"You...yes, you, in the front...you're not paying attention to me!"

But long as she keeps doing her sultry BF dancing, all is right with the world.

mother!

mother! (the film's title is in lower case) was released back in 2017. Written and directed by Darren Aronofsky, it starred Jennifer Lawrence as...mother!

It's a fable about God, the Earth and Humanity, with Lawrence's character representing the Earth, or Mother Earth.

And, as a result, Lawrence pretty much goes barefoot throughout the whole movie.

It's a really weird film, but still fascinating. I hated it when it first came out, but it's grown on me the more times I've seen it. mother! having so many BF scenes certainly helped to warm me up to it.
