The Monster Squad

The Monster Squad is a great horror film that's a lot of fun.

The opening scene takes place a hundred years prior, where Van Helsing is storming Dracula's castle. As soon as he and his men seize the place, Van Helsing calls for somebody to come inside.

A barefoot peasant girl is escorted inside the castle, and we get a very nice shot of her bare feet navigating the debris on the floor.

The peasant girl, played by actress Sonia Curtis, is brought in to read from an ancient book that will close the magical portal that Dracula has set up in his pad.

Of course, things don't go well, or else there would be no need to continue with the rest of the movie. The Monster Squad is a highly recommended watch for this Halloween season as being a loving ode to monster movies and all things spooky.
