The Vampire Bat was a horror thriller that was released back in 1933. It dealt with dead bodies turning up in a village with all of their blood drained. Of course, it turns out to be...The Vampire Bat!
The damsel in distress here is none other than Fay Wray, who's better known for her part of Ann Darrow in the original King Kong. She also appeared in The Most Dangerous Game, which was shot at the same time as Kong (Wray worked on both sets in the same day).
The bondage that's inflicted on her here in The Vampire Bat looks very snug, with leather straps securing Wray to the chair and a nice large gag. The gag actually sets off her lovely and expressive eyes.
She's rescued, of course. Melvyn Douglas appeared as the local cop. Douglas would much later co-star in Ghost Story, and The Changeling--two very memorable and scary movies from my childhood.
Fay Wray is famous enough just for being Kong's girlfriend, but she had a very long and distinguished career as an actress with plenty of great roles.
