The actor Peter Wyngarde passed away recently. I knew him well from his role as Klytus, the chief of security for Ming The Merciless in the 1980 Flash Gordon film (a movie that I've grown to love a great deal over the years). His Klytus, despite looking like Doctor Doom's little brother, was a memorable character who extruded great menace.
But Wyngarde was also known for his role as Jason King, a popular sleuth in two British TV series, Department S and Jason King. He's been called the inspiration for Austin Powers. The only sequence I've seen of his Jason Ming series is this scene from Department S below.
It's a goofy scene (why doesn't the woman on the bed just pull down her own gag?), but I enjoy it.
