The Prestige

The Prestige was a fantastic film that was directed by Christopher Nolan (who's no slouch in the film directing department).

The film dealt with the rivalry between two stage magicians back in the 1800s.

Piper Perabo appears in a nice scene as a magician's assistant who gets tied up for an act where she's dunked in a water-filled tank.

What makes this even nicer is that she's barefoot.

The film also stars Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson. Imagine that, Black Widow actually shared the screen with Alfred and Batman.

The Prestige is a great film overall. Highly recommended.

The Prestige

The Prestige was a great movie about two rival magicians in late nineteenth century London that was directed by Christopher Nolan (the Dark Knight trilogy).

Piper Perabo stars as a magician's assistant who gets tied up and has to escape from a water tank.

Perabo is shown being tied up on stage by two "volunteers" (actually a pair of magicians planted in the audience0.

I've long been a fan of women getting tied up in magic acts--especially if they're barefoot, as Piper is here.

The Prestige gives another example where a trick is completely reliant on the assistant, who does all the work in escaping.

The Prestige is an excellent movie overall, and is highly recommended.

Selbit's Sawing Trick

You ever wonder how that old "sawing a woman in half" trick works? You can see it right here in this video, and there's a surprise revelation: the supposedly "helpless" woman is the one who does all the work.

A gagged trick

I was never a big fan of these "gag only" stunts, but this is pretty cool. She does the entire trick with her mouth tape gagged and manages to incorporate the gag into the act. This is from the BBC series Killer Magic. You can find this on youtube. But you can watch it right here. Just click on the image above.
