Happy Birthday Batman!

It's Batman's 80th birthday today. He first appeared in Detective Comics on March 30, 1939.

To celebrate the occasion, here are screen caps of Yvonne Craig as Barbara Gordon in the 1960's Batman TV series.

This is from the third season episode "Surf's Up! Joker's Under!" where Craig spends the majority of the episode wearing a wonderful black one-piece. She also went barefoot while in this swimsuit, as well.

This was also the same episode where Batman and the Joker had a surf-off, where they wore swim trunks outside of their usual costumes. Ah, the good old days. Happy 80th Birthday, Batman!

Tying up the Exorcist

The airwaves (at least the cable networks) were flooded with these ghost shows in the last ten years. This is from one of them.

A psychic helping to rid a house of a demon will summon it into her body (um, OK..,whatever), but before she can do this, she must be tied to a chair, just in case the demon causes her to be violent (how is this helping matters, exactly?).

For the record, I don't believe in this stuff, despite having written a spooky book. I enjoy reading horror books and watching horror films, but I don't believe that this stuff exists in the real world.

But I still enjoy these goofy ghost shows, especially when the female ghost hunters are bound barefoot. I originally clipped this, BTW, back when I dabbled in making my own clips.

News about Ryta

I finished the first draft of the latest Ryta book. There's a lot of work left to do, but the hard part--creating it from scratch--is done. Next up is the re-writing/editing process. If all goes smoothy, the newest book will be on sale by late April (which is just about a month from now). Keep it here for the latest news about the Ryta saga.

The first Ryta book can be gotten here.

You can get the most recent Ryta book here.

From Beyond

In From Beyond, Barbara Crampton stars as a doctor who gets involved in some really weird stuff.

It's directed by Stuart Gordon, who also helmed The Re-Animator. So you know that From Beyond has some far-out gory horror scenes.

Here, Crampton's character gets caught by her colleagues at the hospital where she works, who promptly decide to give her some electroshock treatment.

So she gets tied down and even gagged while clad only in a hospital gown.

This moment when she gets gagged happens to be one of my favorites.

Fortunately, she never receives the shock treatment and even manages to escape.

From Beyond is a great horror movie that's really 'out there' at times. Highly recommended.

Getting the snoop lecture

Andi has been caught snooping in the Mar-Tech offices. She's been tied up and gagged and subjected to...the snoop lecture. Those evil Mar-Tech bastards! Gaze upon the horror in my latest Poser picture right here.

Caught Cute Snoop

This is from a Russian TV show that features an adorable woman who's caught snooping around the bad guys' lair. I don't know the name of the actress, or the name of the series.

Once she's captured, she's tied to a bed, and in a rare case is stripped of her clothing down to her underwear. And she's even rescued at the end. A very nice scene with a truly cute and spunky damsel. You can download this clip right here.

Stranger Things This Way Comes

This has got to be one of the best trailers I've seen recently. I'm loving seeing the characters as they grow up and face new experiences (and also new monsters from the Upside-down, from the looks of things). To say that I can't wait to see this new season is putting it very mildly.

I also loved their use of The Who's Baba O'Riley, remixed here into a soaring, epic version. Very nicely done! Here's a version of the ST:3 Baba O'Riley song that somebody has kindly presented on the Tube of U:

Mission Impossible: Fallout

Who knew that, in all the running around that they do in the latest Mission Impossible film, that there would be time to tie up the lead actress?

And yet there she is, Rebecca Fergeson, tied to a chair by the villain (Sean Harris) at the climax of MI: Fallout.

It would have been nice if she had been BF, but I'm not complaining. It's still a nice scene.

What's really cool about this scene is that, even though she's supposedly 'helpless,' Fergeson's character still struggles to get free in time to rescue Simon Pegg's Benji, who's fighting for his life against the baddie.

Even tied to a chair, Fergeson remains a badass. I love it.

MI: Fallout is a fun movie, overall. It's a hard-charging action film that's a satisfying popcorn flick.

Meeting the crocodile

A helplessly tied up Jean meets a nasty crocodile with just a set of bars separating them. This leads Jean to wonder just how sturdy are these metal bars? You can see the shenanigans in my latest Poser picture right here.

House of Lifetime

Based on a true story (!!!) House of Darkness: New Blood (???) tells the horrifying tale of a young mother who suspects something EVIL might be lurking in her house--which is the basic plot of most of the movies on Lifetime (God bless them...or Satan bless them, whatever the case may be).

Kate Stone stars as the Nancy Drew-type who get captured by the bad guys near the end.

When she wakes up, Kate finds herself bound hand and (bare)foot.

Did I mention she was bound barefoot? I did? OK.

Anyway, Kate discovers the horrifying truth, that she was abducted by a cult, just so they could give her some demonic exposition! Ugh, those bastards!

Will Kate escape? Or will the cult give her a pop quiz to make sure she got all of their exposition? Find out in the horrifying clip that's based on a "true" story below:

Happy Saint Gillian Day!

I hope you're having a very Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

I recently watched The Spy Who Dumped Me, and was very pleased to see Gillian Anderson, Scully from the X-Files, was in the movie. I thought she was the best thing in the entire flick. It's always nice to see one of my favorite actresses just get more classier with age.

Paranoia

Carroll Baker stars in Paranoia ("I'm not paranoid!") as a wealthy woman who's being held hostage in her own home.

The movie overall isn't really very good, but it has this nice scene of Baker having been left tied to a bed while scantily clad and barefoot.

Baker, trying to catch the attention of visitors to her home, tries to make as much noise as she can by knocking things over with her bound feet. This scene is better than the entire movie. You can download this clip right here.

Death Proof

Death Proof was a thriller that was directed by Quentin Tarantino, which starred Kurt Russell.

It was about a psycho (Russell) who liked to kill women with car crashes. His car was tricked out so that only he would survive the collision (usually with another car).

As much as of a fan as I am of his work, I actually thought Death Proof wasn't one of Tarantino's best films.

It's a very chatty movie, with plenty of scenes of people talking to each other and at each other.

And the real action doesn't start until about mid-way through the flick.

But it *IS* a Quentin Tarantino movie.

Which means there are plenty of barefoot scenes featuring women. Leave it to Quentin to make even one of his lesser movies still watchable.

Mortal Engines

I saw Mortal Engines last night, and enjoyed it very much. And this came as a shock to me, because this film was a huge bomb at the box office last holiday season. When I saw it (I rented it from Amazon), I was expecting to see a flop, but was instead pleasantly surprised.

This is a post-apocalyptic story that takes place a thousand years from now, with a young woman named Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) seeking vengeance against a man who lives in London, which is a mobile city that attacks smaller towns for their resources. These cities and towns literally roam the wastelands like great land ships.

It's fast-paced and very well done, with a superb production design that introduces you to a whole new world. Having seen it, I now want to get a copy for myself. If you're looking for something completely different, then take the Mortal Engines out for a spin.

Tau

Maika Monroe stars in Tau, a thriller with some science fiction elements.

She's abducted by a crazed genius who wants to experiment on her. Don't you hate it when that happens?

She winds up playing a cat and mouse game with the guy, and Monroe winds up going barefoot throughout the majority of the running time of this film.

And she also spends a good portion of the film tied up.

Tau is a relentless thriller that centers on the relationship that Monroe strikes up with Tau, the central computer that controls the mansion she's locked up in.

Monroe is very good here, giving it her all even in the scenes where she's tied.

Tau is available on Netflix within the US (it was made for Netflix--thanks for this, Netflix!).
