Mortal Engines

I saw Mortal Engines last night, and enjoyed it very much. And this came as a shock to me, because this film was a huge bomb at the box office last holiday season. When I saw it (I rented it from Amazon), I was expecting to see a flop, but was instead pleasantly surprised.

This is a post-apocalyptic story that takes place a thousand years from now, with a young woman named Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) seeking vengeance against a man who lives in London, which is a mobile city that attacks smaller towns for their resources. These cities and towns literally roam the wastelands like great land ships.

It's fast-paced and very well done, with a superb production design that introduces you to a whole new world. Having seen it, I now want to get a copy for myself. If you're looking for something completely different, then take the Mortal Engines out for a spin.
