The Island of Dr. Moreau, released in 1977, was a remake of the vastly superior Island of Lost Souls. Burt Lancaster played the role made famous (or infamous) by Charles Laughton in the original.
Barbara Carrera played Maria in the '77 version. Maria was an exotic young woman.
There's no bondage in the film, but there is a nice scene when everybody is enjoying a formal dinner, and Maria--while wearing an elaborate gown--still goes barefoot.
Maybe going BF is her one concession to the overbearing tropical heat.
Or maybe she just likes going barefoot. I was stricken by this scene as a kid when I first saw it way back when on cable TV, and am glad I was able to track it down to get the vidcaps.
