The Court Jester was a movie released in 1955 that starred Danny Kaye as...well, a court jester.
The movie also starred Glynis Johns, who acted as Kaye's sidekick.
Johns also goes barefoot throughout the whole film.
It takes place back in the Middle Ages, in the age of knights and castles.
Glynis Johns is something of a warrior/spy, more so than Danny Kaye. She handles the rough stuff as well as the sneaking around.
And it's better to do this stuff for her in her bare feet.
