Pacific Rim

Rinko Kikuchi stars as Mako Mori in Pacific Rim, a highly enjoyable big-monster movie from director Guillermo del Toro.

At one point in the film, Mako is asked to participate in a martial arts tryout against Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam), who's looking for a new co-pilot for his Jaeger, a massive robot designed to battle big-monsters.

Mako ditches her boots and fights in her bare feet.

And she winds up being a very good fighter.

Pacific Rim is highly recommended for fans of Godzilla films. While it lacks the emotional depth of, say, The Shape of Water, Pacific Rim is just a fun ride overall with great eye candy.
