An Elven break

I love this shot of Liv Tyler, in costume (except for shoes) as her Lord Of The Rings character Arwen. I like the idea that Arwen went barefoot when she was home among her fellow elves.

Amazon Prime is forging ahead with its LOTR TV series, and at first I wasn't sure if this was a good idea. But Amazon has shown that they can make some great TV series (The Man In The High Castle, Hanna, The Boys), so I'm willing to give them a chance. Besides, it's not often that we get a multi-million dollar high fantasy series on TV.

Cut out of the dive

Having found a galleon while diving, Helen then finds herself tied up on her bunk, having been iced out of the salvage...but not if Helen can help it. It's the situation in my latest Poser picture, which can be seen right here.

The Boys

I watched The Boys, the TV series produced by Amazon Prime that's based on the comic book series by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. The Boys takes a much darker view of superheroes, portraying them as being less than noble brats who are more concerned about their celebrity image than actually saving and helping people, and many of these "heroes" are not above committing murder to protect their image.

The series is very good, with an unrelenting narrative drive that starts with the horrific death of a young woman at the hands of one of the "heroes". Karl Urban is well-cast as the single-minded leader of "The Boys," a group determined to expose these "heroes" as the monsters they truly are (and who inadvertently become the real heroes of the story). The Boys has already been renewed, and I'm looking forward to the next season.

The Nun

Taissa Farmiga stars in The Nun, a horror movie about the creepy-ass nun that threatened the heroes of The Conjuring 2 (the wife in TC2 was played by Vera Farminga, who is Taissa's real-life older sister).

Taking place in the 1950s, about twenty years before the events of The Conjuring, The Nun features young Taissa doing the usual dopey move of checking out the haunted abbey from hell alone at night while barefoot and clad only in her night gown.

Taissa even goes outside to the creepy old cemetery, where she rescues the priest she's working with from having been buried alive by ...the Nun.

She gets right to work in digging him up, which goes to show that, when it comes to the Nun, Taissa is having nun of it.

Unfortunately, Taissa doesn't get tied up here, but she does get a good hand gag, so this movie's not completely full of nunsense.

Havana Darkness

In Havana Darkness, Carolina Ravassa and friends travel to Cuba to investigate a mysterious manuscript that might have been written by Hemingway.

But Carolina winds up tied down to a table with a scary dude getting ready to "get to work" on her.

I haven't seen the entire movie yet, so I don't know the circumstances behind why she's trussed up like this. But she's barefoot, and (spoiler) she makes an escape, which makes this one of my new favorite scenes of recent times.

Beautiful Creatures

I always loved the movie Beautiful Creatures, the movie that came out in 2000, not the 2013 film with the same name.

The REAL Beautiful Creatures starred the divine Rachel Weisz (who gets chained up in these screen captures) and Susan Lynch as a pair of women who get in way over their heads with the mob.

This scene, taken in context with the rest of the film, is hysterically funny. The whole movie has this sweet, oddly whimsical tone, despite the dangers the girls face. Unfortunately, she's not barefoot here, but I still like this scene nevertheless.

Hell, I love this movie a great deal. It's almost twenty years old and it still holds up very nicely. If you're looking for a good crime thriller that's extremely offbeat (and funny), then give Beautiful Creatures a shot.

Closed for service

A couple on vacation on a island resort decide to check out the mysterious old fort on the beach late at night. Big mistake...it winds up being a real big mistake. Find out what happens to them in my latest Poser picture right here.

Picard is back

Just when I thought I would never see the crew of the Enterprise-D again, they're all coming back like old friends paying me a much-needed visit. Jean-Luc Picard is back, as is Data (as we see in this trailer), and I've just discovered that Riker will be making an appearance on this series, as well.

Even Seven of Nine, from ST: Voyager, is here. I don't know if these characters will be in the show every episode, or if they are just guest-starring in the pilot. But it doesn't matter, because I'm really looking forward to visiting this beloved universe again. I've got my fingers crossed that this will be as good as the trailer makes it out to be.

The Nightcomers

Stephanie Beacham gets her sleep interrupted by none other than Marlon Brando.

Stephanie gets roughly tied up and is overall treated very harshly in this scene from The Nightcomers, which is a prequel to the ghost story The Innocents.

The Nightcomers tries to explain the haunting that occurs in The Innocents.

Stephanie Beacham would later appear on the TV series SeaQuest DSV. I sat through that frigging show one time--complete with a talking dolphin--but alas, Stephanie was never shown the ropes like she was in The Nightcomers.

It Returns

2019 is shaping up to be a good year for Stephen King fans (like me). First the remake of Pet Sematary came out (which I haven't seen yet, but I plan to see it soon), then they released a trailer for Doctor Sleep, and now this trailer is released for IT: Chapter Two.

I like the casting of the adult versions of the Losers Club, including Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader. Jessica Chastain has worked with IT director Andy Muschietti once before, on another horror film called Mama. I'm really looking forward to seeing this cinematic showdown with Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård).

House of Darkness Redux

House of Darkness: New Blood was a goofy but fun horror movie that aired on the Lifetime network ("goofy but fun" pretty much describes all of their films).

Kate Stone stars as the Nancy Drew-type who get captured by the bad guys near the end.

She's barefoot throughout her abduction and tie up scene.

The evil cult leader takes this time to explain the cult's nefarious plans to the bound Kate.

But being the plucky heroine of a Lifetime movie, you think this shit's gonna stop our girl Kate? Oh, hell no.

Shazam!

I enjoyed watching Shazam very much recently (I originally rented it, but liked it so much that I bought myself a copy). It's a perfect blend of a superhero story that's told with a lighter, cheerier tone but still takes its main threat seriously. Mark Strong was very good as the take-no-prisoners villain, Dr. Sivana, and Zachary Levi was perfect casting as Shazam.

Shazam even managed to pull off some really cool superhero moments, like when he changes into the main character on the rooftop of a building. And the super-powered battle scenes were very well done. Here's hoping they make the sequel soon.

Watching The Sentinel

Cristina Raines stars in The Sentinel as a young woman who takes an apartment in the building FROM HELL. But it's rent controlled, so the devil be damned.

She keeps hearing strange sounds coming from the apartment above her, an apartment that is SUPPOSED TO BE EMPTY.

So in the best tradition of these dopey horror movies (as opposed to the better ones) she goes creeping around while barefoot and still in her nightie, because that's what a beautiful woman in a horror movie is supposed to do (at least according to the makers of The Sentinel).

But that's when she discovers that all of her neighbors are FROM HELL!

Seriously, she moved into what is basically the gateway TO HELL. But if it's right over the gateway to hell, would that mean the heat and hot water would be free? Just wondering.

Another one of my favorite scenes

One of my favorite shows when I was a kid was Space: 1999. Yes, it was very goofy, with bad science (the moon is blown out of Earth's orbit with a moon base on the surface), but I loved it nonetheless. And that was even before the first season episode The Full Circle aired.

In this episode, resident cutie Sandra (Zienia Merton) gets abducted by cave people--who are her fellow members of Moonbase Alpha who have been reverted to savages by a strange fog on an alien planet.

Sandra, herself barefoot and scantily clad in animal skins, gets tied twice--once while carried on a pole, and the second is when she's bound spread eagle to a rack.

I can't help but wonder if watching this scene for the first time as a child was what developed my great love for all things Jungle Girls. This certainly might have been the spark for me.

Fatal Getaway

Lifetime, the Cable TV network for (Kidnapped & Bound) Women, recently aired a movie called Fatal Getaway.

At the end of the film, all four women who are sharing a house on the beach, get drugged and then wake up bound and gagged. *Gasp! You mean it was the pool boy all along?! Egad!* (It's not really the pool boy--I jest--but you'd think these broads would refrain from confronting a person whom they think is a psycho killer, because it never ends well)

But all four women are bound barefoot, which really makes this a nice scene for me.

And this scene lasts for a while, making it one of my recent faves. If you see this movie, Fatal Getaway, playing on Lifetime (or anywhere else), be sure to give it a watch.

Just hanging around

This damsel thinks she's about to be sacrificed in a weird ritual. However, there's a swift change of plans....

Because the Ghost Rider arrives to really mess up the cult leader's day. I'm glad the damsel is saved, but booking a ritual ceremonial tree and surrounding land must have set that cult back a pretty penny, and they can't get that deposit money back. Aaaaiiieee, indeed!

Weird Watery Weirdness (with Aliens)

In the first season episode, Space, from Stargate Universe, Chloe Armstrong (Elyse Levesque) has been abducted by aliens and placed in weird captivity where she finds herself floating within a tank of water, with an oxygen mask keeping her alive.

The aliens had actually stripped her of her clothing, dressing her in a wet suit, and leaving her barefoot.

As captivity scenes go, this one certainly takes the cake for being different.

She's rescued by Dr. Rush (Robert Carlyle), who himself was rescued by an elaborate plan hatched from the Destiny crew.

Stargate Universe only ran for two seasons before being cancelled by the dipshits running the Sy-Fy Channel. This was a shame, because SG: Universe was really very good. It's been ten years since it premiered, and I still miss it.
