Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! I hope you're having a happy and safe Halloween today. If you're driving, then please mind the kiddies who are out trick or treating.

I finished Stranger Things 2, and loved it a great deal. It was ten times better than the first season (which is saying a lot because the first season was great), and it utilized all of the characters in a smart way, giving everybody their moment to shine. If you haven't seen Stranger Things 2 yet, give it a shot. It's highly recommended.

After getting chloroformed by her lover, Maika Monroe awakens to find herself tied hand and foot to a wheelchair in It Follows, a creepily good horror film.

Her lover has tied her to the chair to inform Monroe that she is now cursed after having sex with him. But it's not an STD--instead she will be hunted by an otherworldly creature that takes human form. And it will keep hunting her until she is dead.

It's a nice scene, but the movie overall is highly recommended, especially if you're looking for something a little different than the usual slasher film. You can watch/download it right here.

The Boogey Man

The next Halloween-themed clip is from the classic (well, maybe the film itself isn't exactly a classic, but the scene is) 1980 horror flick The Boogeyman.

Actress Suzanna Love is abducted in the middle of the night by a psycho who drags her--completely tied hand and foot--down a hallway.

She's tied to a bed and is just about to be murdered when she suddenly wakes up...it was all a dream! She's barefoot throughout the scene, making it one of my favorites. You can watch/download it right here.

Stranger Things Season Two

The second season of Stranger Things 'drops' today (using that term always makes me think it fell off of a shelf). I haven't started watching it yet--but I will later tonight, after getting some basic essentials, like potato chips and dip. I loved the first season, and am really looking forward to digging into this one.

Welcome back, Stranger Things--and perfect timing too, right around Halloween.

Tied in 3 Days

Another Halloween-themed update, this time a slasher film from Austria called Dead in 3 Days (In 3 Tagen bist du tot) where a young woman, played by Sabrina Reiter, is abducted by the killer while barefoot and clad only in her underwear.

The killer takes her to a boathouse, where the bound and gagged Reiter will be thrown into the lake while weighted down (the killer's method of choice). Reiter is very nicely tied, with a tight looking gag, and throw in her scant outfit and this makes Dead in 3 Days one of my all time favorites.

The clipper also has a second scene that takes place later in the film with Julia Rosa Stockl (who's fully dressed). You can watch/download it right here.

I saw the Mummy

I saw The Mummy, the most recent version with Tom Cruise. I figured what better time to see the latest Mummy movie than a week or so before Halloween?

I liked it, in parts, but I could have done without Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll. It felt like a completely different film when he was in it, and the Mummy had to take a backseat in her own movie, which wasn't cool (she was pretty good, too). all in all, it wasn't great, but it's not a bad waste of time when it shows up on cable TV.

My favorite Mummy movies remain The Mummy from 1999 and its sequel, The Mummy Returns, which can't be beat for its Ancient Egyptian "bikini babe" action. You never knew that women had bikinis back in those days? Neither did I, until I saw The Mummy Returns.

The Shape of Water

I love this new poster for The Shape of Water, which came out today (the poster, not the movie; the movie opens on December 8, 2017).

The Shape of Water is the latest film from Guillermo del Toro, who gave us Pan's Labyrinth, the Hellboy movies (which I love to bits), Pacific Rim, and Crimson Peak (another favorite of mine). On the surface it looks like a monster movie that would be perfect for Halloween, but knowing this director, there's probably more to the story than meets the eye. I'm looking forward to seeing it in all its glory.

Extreme Haunted House Tour

Every Halloween season these Haunted House Tours pop up all over the country. You know the type, you pay to walk through a "haunted" house, where actors dressed up as monsters and zombies and whatever scare you by jumping out from the shadows.

This one takes the whole tour a little further...by binding up their visitors with duct tape. It looks very rough treatment in some places, but I'm sure that (in addition to paying for this) everybody subjected to these horrors also signed waivers. Happy (almost) Halloween!

Losing My Religion

One of my favorite groups was REM (before they quit making new music) and one of my all-time favorite songs of theirs was 'Losing My Religion'. This video, which originally aired on Dutch TV, goes into detail about the making of this song.

And I've noticed here that the older Michael Stipe gets, the more he looks like a monk.

Lair of the Really Big Worm

Sammi Davis and Catherine Oxenberg have been kidnapped by snake god worshiper Amanda Donohoe in Lair of the White Worm. Davis is trussed up to a wall while Oxenberg, playing a virginal character, is chosen to be the main course for the big worm that's creeping up a vertical shaft.

The film was directed by Ken Russell (Altered States, Tommy, The Devils), and has a nice flair for the bizarre, along with a good sense of humor. It also starred then-unknown Hugh Grant and a young Peter Capaldi, long before he would take up the mantle of the twelfth Doctor on Doctor Who.

I mean, yeah, the bondage scene at the end is really why I'm so fond of this flick. But Lair of the White Worm is very good overall, and would make perfect viewing for an October night. It's not for the kids, but adults should enjoy it as being a good Halloween film.

As we get deeper into October, the nights get darker and the scares intensify (especially whenever the bills come due). To mark the fact that we are another week closer to Halloween, there's a new Halloween-themed picture up on my Deviant Art Page. Playing Gerald's Game

So I watched Gerald's Game on Netflix, and I liked it a great deal. The filmmakers take one of Stephen King's hardest novels to adapt, and they do so with aplomb. Carla Gugino is superb as Jessie, the wife who decides to try out her husband Gerald's idea to "spice up" their sex life with a little handcuff action.

Of course, Gerald (well-played by Bruce Greenwood) dies of a heart attack, leaving Jessie bound to the head of the bed with no way to free herself. The novel takes place mostly within the head of the main character. The film covers this by having Jessie speak to imaginary versions of Gerald and herself. And it works very well.

Be warned that--although it was made for Netflix--this movie is a hard 'R', thanks to a gory scene later on that almost made me faint while watching it. Despite being a non-supernatural psychological thriller, this is definitely a Stephen King story, and it gets very intense at times.

You can see a clip of Gugino in some scenes in the link below, but since she's cuffed for pretty much the entire film's running time (she's barefoot and clad in a sexy nightgown--no gag, although she is briefly handgagged), you might as well watch the whole film. It's well worth your time, especially if you're a Stephen King fan.

New Star Wars trailer

Rey! Luke! Kylo! Space Battles! Porgs! (???).

Did you get your tickets, yet? They're supposed to be available right now. I usually don't bother doing this because I'm not the type who needs to see films right on opening day, but I AM really looking forward to seeing this one. It promises to be deeper and darker than The Force Awakens was, and I enjoyed that very much.

Rian Johnson looks like he was the perfect choice to direct this. He's dealt with science fiction before in his previous film Looper (if you haven't seen that, then do so--it's a great twist on the time travel story), and The Last Jedi is shaping up to be a grand, epic adventure that won't short-change the characters.

Justtice League final trailer

This is supposed to be the final trailer for Justice League (the movie opens just next month now), and it's a good one. The cover of David Bowie's Heroes is an inspired touch. And Aquaman is still freaking cool. But the appearance of a certain Man of Steel sent shivers down my spine. I'm so ready to see this flick. Bring it on.

Days of Our Lives

Stephanie Cameron stars in this great series of scenes from Days of Our Lives, which aired back in the late 1990s. I first saw this scene as a series of still pictures--vidcaps that had been taken from the source.

Stephanie is abducted while barefoot and clad in her pajamas. She spends the next several days as a bound captive of her kidnapper.

Did I mention that she's barefoot, and that her feet are feet throughout? Oh yeah. When I first saw the still pictures, way back when I was still on dial up, I instantly thought that this scene was a classic.

She escapes, gets recaptured and retied, and just keeps struggling and fighting as much as she can. These clips are the cleanest and brightest I've ever seen this, so you might want to get them now.

Tiger House

Kaya Scodelario, from The Maze Runner movies, stars in this low budget (and shot in South Africa) action thriller about a young woman who sneaks over to her boyfriend's house one night--on the same night the place is taken over in a home invasion by armed thugs.

They take the boyfriend and his mother, played by Julie Summers, hostage, tying them up on a bed, still in their pajamas. Although she shares her tie up scenes with a guy, Ms. Summers' bound bare feet are on ample display.

And while she doesn't get tied up at all, Kaya Scodelario does spend the bulk of the film's running time running around bare foot. So this flick is watchable. You can watch/download it right here.
